Well, sorry. An "internal error" sure looks like an error in apt rather than the packages I have installed. OK, I removed Java, but now I cannot install it any more. :-( It seems that the problem is an unmet dependency of the "locales" package, needed by j2se1.4; so it will hopyfully go away soon.
