Package: apt Version: 0.5.27 Severity: wishlist
Hello, A very common operation is to first update the package lists (apt-get update) and then download and install any updated packages (apt-get upgrade). It would be nice if this could be done in one command. Running these commands separately now causes a waiting time when Reading Package Lists (especially on slower machines and/or machines with many sources). With the combined command this reading step only has to be done once, and it saves some typing on the commandline. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.7-1-k7 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages apt depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-1 GCC support library ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-2 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 -- no debconf information
