Just brainstorming here, but are you *sure* that you have to free your 
TStrings? Delphi's memory manager does lots of stuff that used to have to be 
done by the programmer, so if you free your TStrings AFTER Delphi has done 
this - you'll get an AV. And most probably, if you free your TStrings BEFORE, 
and Delphi tries to free them - you'll get an AV.

As I said - just brainstorming. Maybe it is I who is missing something 
here. :)
