We are developing a rather huge application developed by about 6 persons
working all on Delphi prof and one Delphi enterprise.
We would like to translate all captions of buttons, mainmenu-items and const
resource-strings. One way is to use the Translation manager deivered with the
enterprise edition, but we still want to develop on prof versions to be able to
change these strings. The translation should be updatable within future
editions of the software and the translation has to be done and maintained by
an external buro.
What are the posible solutions to translate program-strings (captions) and
const strings by a third party buro and what solutions could you recommend? Is
is possible to use the translations manager delivered with the enterpise
version and still develop in prof versions (the workstations running the prof
version have to maintain the files containing the const resource strings.).
We have about 90 % of all used const string combined in one unit: the rest of
the strings to be translated are properties of components that are added at
design-time.
When I'm trying to use the translation manager, I get a rather huge list
containing ALL items from my unit, but I actually only want the strings,
captions and labels I've added or changed. Could this be filtered within the
transl. man? I did find within the hlp file of the transl man. to let a third
party run only the transl manager, but will this provide a way to maintain
future versions without having to translate it all over again (only changed
strings should be translated again)? I did not find a way to export the strings
to be translated.
All suggestions using the translation manager or other solutions how to setup
to translate and maintain translations are welcomed.
