Hi, Andries! >I also saw some recommendations or other translating programs/ components: >www.tsiLang.com, www.multilizer.com , www.korzh.com/delphi/localizer , >http://delphi.about.com/cs/toppicks/tp/aatplocalize.htm (a whole list...) etc... > >any experience with one of these?
I'm using Multilizer (versions from 4.5 up to 6.1) for 5 years now for a group of 6 Delphi developers. It provides very good tools for managing translations, centralized translation memory storage, batch localization, support for many compilers and programming languages? even support for XML and database localization. It gives possibility to pass localization project to to a translator outside, and after that to seeamlessly integrate localization project into your application. Latest version (6.1) provides a WYSIWYG localization of any visual element of your application. You can even alter forms and visual element dimensions separately for any of the locales? chosen in your localization project. Multilizer can prepare separate localized application for any locale, chosen in your project or to compile localized resoure libraries, whicn can be distributed along with your "native" application and swithed in runtime. Advantages: 1. Centralized translation memory with good management; 2. Easy to use and fast (application with 70 packages and more than 10000 localizable items overall is compiled in some 10-12 minutes); 3. Easy integration into any SCM system, because localization projects are simple XML files; 4. Ability to cope with virtually any third-party components; 5. Any localization project can be prepared to be translated by third-party translators; 6. Command-line tools for batch processing. Drawbacks: 1. Costs a lot; 2. Need a good database backend for storing translation memory (MS SQL, Oracle, e.t.c) to support group development Best regards, Pavel Evarestov [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------ Yahoo!
