I have a project to control 2 drives and step motors each with absolute encoder. The functions of the 2 axis are to apply material to a shaft at a certain picth. The whole operation is basically various pitches and speeds to apply layers, a few LEDS, stop/start buttons etc. Effectively this is a lathe without the precision. The program will have 4 variables that the operator can select. I can do this with a PLC and man-machine-interface, but would prefer to have I/O cards fitted to a PC using delphi code. Is there any literature and products(hardware) you know of to get me started. Does anybody have a basic lathe software sample (or for sale). Thanks Piet Henning
