What about storing the user Name/Password in a database along with their
permissions and create a simple login form which would query the database.

registering.. are you talking about
having your site hosted on a web server..?
or are you trying to build a website and then once
it's built, do you want to have user login and out of your webpage..?

  if so
  1. are you familiar with IIS
  2. are you using a Relay server of anytype.. please be more specific with
what you are wanting.
a .aspx file in delphi or c# or vb.net should all be able to be read in
delphi..

I want to have user login-out of my webpage and restrict access to
certain features. Im not using a relay server atm, but I could add that
later. I am familiar with IIS, I know the basics and some about security but
I know I have to learn more...

See the problem is, I really dont know what the hell I doing LOL. Im
learning as I go, but I need to learn alot more... so I do not know where
to start- what to search for etc... so I can learn about it. Pathetic ain't
I =)

I just need to be pointed in the right direction, so an
procedure/tutorial/ebook would be great.

Im using delphi 2005 asp.net. Im a decent win32 delphi programmer, but I
have been ignoring the .net end of it for a long time, and now I want to
get into asp.net... problem is that I prefer apache/mysql to iis/mssql. But
I know if I use asp.net I need iis and most code samples and tutorials deal
with mssql/iis and I cant find much code on mysql.

I want to create a simple portal website with asp.net with iis/mysql. The
only delphi portal code I could find is at
http://aspxdelphi.net/DesktopDefault.aspx
<http://aspxdelphi.net/DesktopDefault.aspx> which is great, but it uses
mssql. I have been going over that code for a couple weeks learning from
it... but its a bit complex. But still I have learned alot from it.

  thanks
  Frank
