I don't know why you have had this error, but it may help you to know that I installed and am using BDE OK with D7 in WinXP SP1 and SP2. I don't believe that you had a message worded _exactly_ as you quoted "the BDE can't be registred in WinXp". What did the message say exactly? Glen
