Hello,
I have a program that has embedded excel data stored in a database. Opening
this data-blob will send this data to Excel via automation. A user can change
data within the Excel file, and pressing close, the changes will be saved and
restored within the database.
All users use Office 2000 and it works fine as long as the user has Windows XP
installed.
A couple of users has the Windows 2000 OS, Pressing the Excel-close on these
machines will not directly store the data, but a "save as" pops-up and the user
can store the data to the tmp xls file. (this pop-up never shows up on the
windows XP machines); also the actuall data is not stored within the database.
I know there are some differences using automation and Excel (office 2000) and
Excel (office 2003/XP). Though I have never heard of some differences in
behaviour using the same Excel, but different OS. I do not know if all service
packs has been installed on the windows 2000 machines.
Does anyone know some OLE problems caused by the windows 2000 OS. I do have
some windows 2000 machines within this company, but they all seems to work
al-right, so maybe this is caused by a not-installed Office or windows 2000
service pack?
Anyone seen this before?
Regards
Andries
