Do you have any database components there? It sounds like it's a problem to do with code you have that is database related. When the DB opens, your code runs and gets the stack overflow. If that's the case, and depending on the db, you should somehow disable the db access outside of the project. For BDE, change the alias path. Another db will depend on which one, but maybe as easy as moving the DLL out of the project directory.

currently can't open a project as I get a stack overflow error,When i open
project  The project is very slow to open and then I get the
following message:
  Danger
Stack overflow -save your work and restart delphi
if i ignore error, the IDE just disapeared
Any idea on how to get around this ? where i should find delphi 2006 update
please if possible give me URL
