Ok, I'm not big on Office Automation and I'm scratching my head on where I find a source of methods and members I can call on when automating say Excel or Word either manually or with one of the built in wrapper components. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Another tip of the hat to the TurboPower Office automation components, now in SourceForge. They can save you a lot of code.
Another tip on "a source of methods and members": you can get quick "what is where" info on the Office automation objects within the Office programs.
1. In Word, Excel, or Access, on the main menu, choose Tools | Macro | Visual Basic Editor.
2. In the editor's main menu, choose View | Object Browser.
3. In the Object Browser's window, there are two comboboxes at top left. In the top one, choose the name of the app you're automating ('Excel', 'Access', etc.).
You can navigate around the objects to see what they contain, and drill down through them to what you want -- they're all available from Delphi through the TLB.
I've found this very helpful each time I've have to learn all that stuff again...
