Although you may think this a little OT for this list, I consider
very On-Topic because it is an essential part of my work with Delphi! So if
you have any info, or experience, that may be helpful please let me know!
I'm in a situation where I work out of my home, and my home is built
on property belonging to my Father...one deed that cannot be split. He
retired and immediately bought himself a restaurant in an area almost two
hours drive from here so he's been looking for a new place closer to his
restaurant, and in order to buy it he has to sell this place and I have to
sell mine at the same time as a secondary dwelling.
Well we finally found a place that we both like and gives us enough
space between ourselves that we don't end up on murder's row. We bought it
and are moving in May.
Before we did I was told by the realtor that they had Comcast cable
up there which is the company I have my internet access through now, so I
thought everything was fine until today when I found out it's not Comcast
but another cable company that buys from Comcast. Unfortunately they don't
have digital lines up and aren't planning to install them anytime soon!
I know I could never go back to dial-up access again, and I've heard
from a few people that even DSL via Verizon, ( the phone company ), isn't
very good!
I really haven't kept up on that side of the technology so I was
hoping other's could tell me what else might be available via ANY method
and/or by ANY anachronism, how they liked it or disliked it. Are there any
satellite companies providing good two-way service yet? I had heard the
Hughes had something in the works a few years ago but I haven't heard
anything about it since. Thanx in advance for any info!
