As per topic this seems to be a problem typically with remote desktop.

My latest products mostly have a NT service that does all the work, and
try to listen on a port (TCP). When it find a free port it set it in
registry and / or config file. Client program does all parameter
settings. Making a C/S like this is quite easy with ICS products in my
opinion, but yes it is extra work. The nice thing about TCP is that it
also can be done remote.
