Much of the problems were solved by puting a 1 in the record variable in reset and rewrite functions. Even though I thought of this, I was assuming that a untyped File was dynamic and would resize itself. Which brings me to the question on the recsize parameter, I do not know the meaning of putting a 1 in there. Since the default is 128 bytes, should I calculate the sumation of sizeof(sometype)'s and use that? The delphi help file doesnt get into the values that should be used in this parameter.

Anyway, I think the problem might be because the default blocksize is 128 bytes.
