Usually I've found that unless the programmer has done a lot of
hard-coding on custom properties and/or events that aren't readily available
for other like components, I can replace them fairly quickly with my own so
that I can take a hard look at the source and a compiled version. But
that's only if I have a text version of the dfm along with the pas file.
Otherwise it can be pretty tough! In any case I would greatly appreciate
seeing it, and promise to neither use or share it.

Robert,
I can give you a copy of our Frameworks application, built on packages and
used in the real world. Only problem is that it uses the Developer Express
components in the GUI layers, but the data and business layers don't so you
won't have a problem with them.
Let me know if you want a copy.
I am considering porting it to .NET and making a generic application
framework on that platform. Only problem is that when you create a platform
to be used by other developers, they must have the same components to keep a
consistent GUI.
Cheers,
Darren

Subject: RE: Responsive Software Framework Source Code
I saw this add today and went to their site to check it out,
unfortunately the cost just to see it is high for me right now. Still
though more than anything else I would love to see the source code to a
holistic-like application used in the real world much like the one they
describe. Does anyone know of anything else like this that can be
viewed/studied for free?
It's tougher than you might think to come in cold to a small
business, and try to help them solve a plethora of problems that are all
interrelated when you've never even seen a professional solution to a like
situation! I have only my own business experience to guide me, and I try to
adapt the way I would solve the problems myself to their system or method of
working and design an application or applications that meet their
requirements.
My clients know up front that I am completely self-taught and my
experience is low, and I know coming in the door that they're talking to me
because they can't afford to have a "real" professional programmer work for
them. But still I want to be sure that whatever I do come up with for them
is at least on some level a solution that would make sense to another more
experienced programmer.

The Responsive Software Framework is a generic business application used by
Responsive Software as a platform for building customized business
applications for their clients.
The Framework includes a general ledger, cashbook, point-of-sale, HTTP
server, document/image repository, client/server communications and database
management for Paradox/BDE and Firebird/Interbase.
The full Delphi source code can be licenced for private noncommercial and
evaluation purposes or for commercial use:

A description of the Framework in a Word document is available:
