Hold on..... I don't know where Armadillo hides its stuff, so I don't know
it its even writing to them at all......

My point was that users with restricted rights is not an issue with
Armadillo, but it was with our own stuff.

So, either they have found a way to get around the restricted rights
problem, or they store the information somewhere else.  Of course, they
won't tell you where they store it because to do so would compromise their
protection.
