I had a home how similar error on a user from Asia (Japan). He had unicode characters in the folder's name: c:\Documents and Settings\???????\Local Settings\Temp\MyTempFile.tmp Some functions could handle those characters but others could not. Trying to see if the file exists reported true. Trying to open the file generated an errror.
