It seems that RC.EXE (Microsoft's resource compiler) is not able to
compile vista icons (icons containing a PNG-compressed 256x256 image).
I'm not even asking about Borland's resource compiler, haven't tried it,
but it's so old it can't possible know about Vista icons.

I did manage to build icons using a tool called "Resorce Builder" (from
SiComponents) with mixed success. It doesn't always manage to properly
compile my Vista icon. Also I'm not 100% the vista icon itself is
absolutely ok as there's no Microsoft SDK tool to build / test such an
icon. I did copy the icon over to a Vista machine and it looks really
good (and really really large) so I think the icon is good. Also the
icon has been generated using Icon Workshop and this seems to be the
tool Microsoft uses.

Any ideas? Should I simply drop the "vista icon" idea for a while, till
everyone re-tools? After all, the 256x256 PNG icon is only required on a
Vista machine if the owner puts the desktop into "Large Icons" mode...

Thanks,
Cosmin Prund
