Hi Sid I have some suggestions which may help you, there is a little learning curve but I found I was able to get some solutions up and running very quickly.
The first was Delphi Twain - with some small tweaks it is running under XE2 very well. The second Vampyre Imaging Libray http://imaginglib.sourceforge.net The examples of very good, this library is not drag and drop components though and requires a bit of coding to do the manipulations. As far as the OCR goes I would look at this: http://cc.embarcadero.com/Item/29034 I have not had opportunity to use this library yet but plan to in a project I plan to do in the next few months. If you can download and check these out then perhaps ask questions I would see if I could assist.
