I agree - it gets messy.

We enforce a common development directory structure just so that we can move
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Borland\Delphi\X.0 along with the files.

Max, there is. But everyone installs components in different
drives/directories etc.  This is a classic example of why
Using the registry is a bad idea.  I couldnt restore from tape backup
without removing SP5.
