Thanks Alistair,
Still don't understand what kind of information about ico files is
stored in registry and how is it retrieved while loading an icon.
Why I am asking this is that I used a Tdrawgrid in my app, each icon in
the drawgrid represents a task, and the icons do not appear as pictures
which is exactly the same as shown in Explorer, according to the report
from the customer.
It seems the icons representing shortcuts in the desktop appear
correctly, otherwise the customer should had noticed the problem.
Apparent logic is If Icons show correctly, they should show correctly in
explorer as well as in TdrawGrid.
Cheers

Hi Yanbo. this sounds like a corruption in their
registry, as explorer
should show ICO files automatically. I bet if they did
(yuck) a
re-installation that would sort it.
Another better option would be to find the registry key
that associates the
ICO file and import that into their registry, but sounds
like they may not
have the expertise there to do that.
Doubt it to be the comctl32 problem.
Cheers,
