Not to mention the increased bandwidth for content ratio. This has been bashed
about before and I think the result was something like:
1. No binaries
2. keep signatures to a minimum
3. trim messages in reply
It was a contested issue as to whether to allow rtf/html email... so several still
do it. Some even attach a 'business card' to every message which seems
(IMHO) excessive when a signature will do it smaller.
the issue of accesibility was hardly touched on with most discussion going to
bandwidth management - but as you note, if members of the list audience are
unable to view messages then perhaps a standard posting format should be
observed to avoid this problem.
FYI -- The message was a brief excerpt explaining a possible internal protocol
for handling of tcpip streams.
