Andrew,

one resource (believe it or not) is base ram.  Yes, on win95.  In
fact the concept exists on NT too.  Under 95, its still only 640K,
under NT I think it is 1M.  This is still used for DOS PSP blocks
and a few other things.  If you get a Out of Memory error, this is
what it is often referring to.  PCMag have a utility on their site
that packs these blocks up to free up some memory.  Because MS leave
it fragmented.
