I've done this since Delphi 2 with no real problems.
I did find that the desktop settings file includes the path with the filename,
whereas the project file does not include the path. So when I copied all the
files from D4Projects to D5Projects (including the .dsk file) the Delphi 5
editor opened the files from the D4Projects directory; but when I compiled,
Delphi used the files in the D5Projects directory. It took me awhile to find
out why the changes I was making to the code were not evident when I compiled
the program.
