OK, ADO is NOT standard on all machines, tho it is pretty much standard
on anything with IE5. NT4 SP4 included it also.
There is an install (on the D5 Ent. CD, should be on the upsell CD too)
called MDAC_TYP.exe that installs it. HOWEVER, its a cow to install,
'cos unlike other installshield installs (which you can chain together),
it forces a reboot and never tells the calling install that its doing
that. My flatmate is doing a project with it, and to install on a bare
Win95 machine, it takes about 5 reboots to install. Ouch.

Depends: MSSQL7, yes. Oracle 8i, dunno. Access - YES!, anything else:
ODBC :(

Pretty much a case of search and replace, EXCEPT you need to watch your
keywords, 'cos ADO uses slightly different reserved words (eg, like in
interbase you can't call a field PASSWORD)

Should be. MS have had it around for more than a week - thats a good
sign. Note that MS throw things out a LOT anyway....

IB6 is rumered to contain an OLE-DB driver, Informix has one I think,
others are writing them.....

Not that I'm aware of - I've used it in that config, and it worked nice.
I have it (almost) transparently swappable between ADOExpress and
IBExpress. :) Its was just a trivial exercise tho....
