HI all, This is the first of a series of updates from the Inprise - Borland Developers Conference being held in sunny Brisbane. We have a contingent of about 30 - 40 Kiwis here ( the real number will be known after our Kiwi get together tonight (Sunday). There are about 400 people all up here so is very exciting. On the plane over Tony Blomfield and I got to sit right behind Charlie Calvert and David Intersimone of Borland. David heads the Developer Relations Group, and Charlie is well known for his Delphi Unleashed Books. So we got some free time to talk to them informally about the state of the industry, and the Borland tools. They are both very excited about what is happening. On Saturday we started the first Tutorial session. These are held prior to the conference proper. Most attended the session on "JBuilder and Java for Delphi Developers". This was fantastic, and of any session I've attended at one of these conferences, this was one of the best. Today (Sunday) we are in a session about developing 3 tier applications with Web interfaces. So far (its lunchtime right now) it seems to be another hot session. The keynote speech is tonight, and I'll send another report after that. This is possible due to a neat computer lab set up here, fully online, and available 24 hrs a day. And lots of machines. Also a hub so I can plug my laptop in direct. Until later.... Kindest Regards Gary Benner DUG Coordinator At the Borland Conference signing off. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Zealand Delphi Users group - Delphi List - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Website: http://www.delphi.org.nz
