Well dont have trouble thinking up a few. Think large corporates with plenty
of Eftpos transactions and everything in Oracle. "Scales" to me means that
performance on given hardware is close to a linear relationship with size/ transaction
load whatever. "Given hardware" is going to cough at some point at which you
simply have add more hardware. (More processors, more memory). Not all hardware
scales that well either so you definitely have problems as you larger.
Hmm, our marine system would top out at around 1TB if loaded it all but we definitely
dont have the hardware (especially diskspace) to have it online.
