Like you I didn't really want to do this dialog (can of worms)
Just some quick thoughts
On Jade - In this new era of open software
(and you must admit that a product like MSDE being free was unheard of 3
years ago)
Why would you want to make Gil Simpson richer and tie yourself to a
proprietory OO database
(no matter how good it is)
To me SQL being available to the entry level developer is great!
On IB vs MS SQL - Iv'e developed in both and the only thing I found
difficult with IB was the object interdependancies
This is not a problem if you are rolling out a number of databases but my
projects are all one offs and it makes it
difficult for case tools to synchronise an IB database
On cached updates - I dont inherently like them because of the timing
issues - I find a well normalised DB can be edited
online.
