Or recompile. If you use open source code, your applications _may_ more
readily port to new platforms even if the company that originally wrote the
code no longer exists. I think this is going to be a requirement in the
future for almost all projects eventually - I've worked on so many projects
that have come about because the original source for the 'current' system
was not available for minor tweaks... requires good quality source though.

reason for change - esp. in NZ.  Open source is not relevant unless your a 
geek or a hacker or a programmer who like to twiddle.<
