I agree that ORACLE shouldn't really treat the field as containing null... The
fact that they warn it might change is obvious acknowledgement that it isn't
right... The most interesting aspect is that ORACLE aims to provide such
tight binding with Java and that this doesn't fit well with Java at all.
Delphi as noted has a similar issue and it shows that, often technically
correct methodology gives way to imlpementation complexity and/or
performance.
Java still has a long way to go to reach a performance threshold where
comparisons stop getting made... Delphi performs very well but doesn't
quite implement its OOP capability quite as well as Java.
Does anyone know whether Kylix is expected to introduce any new
language concepts...
