This is prob inflammatory (what else is new)

But if I was porting to a GPL Linux/NT SQL Server I'd serously look at
PostgresQL over Interbase

Reasons

- Higher Performanace (esp under load)
- Much Better functionality
-- in Script Languages (choose your own, TCL. PERL, Python, a TransactSQL
Clone)
-- Triggers (by Row/By Group)
-- User defined Fuctions
-- Better DataTypes

The only weakness it has currently are
- No OLEDB Driver
- Cannot Return a result set from a stored proc
