Some excellent comments! 

When I started using Delphi seriously Borland was in deep financial trouble,
and everyone was saying "don't touch Delphi - they'll be going under
soon...". My response was the point you make here - even it they did go
under and all Delphi support stopped, the productivity boost was worth the
risk.

The fuss is simply me wondering what kind of future Delphi has, and being
curious to find out what others think...
