Hi all
We are having a terrible time this week trying to get our acrobat distiller
and our Delphi 4 app working together
The acrobat distiller acts as a printer for creating PDF files. The
distiller printer points to a directory that the files are to be created in.
Our application, running on a NT workstation, changes its printer to the
acrobat distiller printer and creates a PDF file which is then attached to
an email to sent to customer. This has been working fine until the beginning
of this week which now has the app creating the file with 0 length and not
creating the rest of the PDF document. There was a small change to the app
which would not effect this and we have even run the previous version, which
has been running since December, last week and was worked fine, but that
still has the same problem.
The distiller printer seems to freeze as if its out of disk space, like a
printer out of paper, to create the file and holds up the rest those queued
behind it.
If we shutdown the computer completely for two or three minutes and restart,
run the app it works fine and the PDF's are created and emails sent
successfully. Try a few hours later then is won't work again until we shut
down.
I can't find any later updates to the distiller printer driver that would
help or troubleshooting problems like this from Adobe. A number of people
are blaming my Delphi app which I don't believe is causing the problem as it
can work are a reboot and the previous working version does work either. One
PC the fails on as 120MB free space and the other 39MB so it can't be a lack
of disk space as each PDF is only 12-13K and only upto 20 are created. No
new software has been installed on either PC. We are unaware of any network
changes that could effect this.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Eion McIntosh
