Try using the Windows API call - ReadVersionInfo.
http://www.undu.com/Articles/990216c.html has the source for a couple of
simple methods that use this call.

Could anyone please tell me how I can find out version info for Excel
(installed on a local machine) in my Delphi 5 app or where to look it up?
My prog has to be able to distinguish between 95, 97, and 2000 versions of
Excel to be able to deal with them appropriately.
