Just as a slim possibility, have you tried copying the file and working on the copy?

Subject: [DUG]: IB6 db corruption

G'Day all,

I'm trying to recover from a corrupted IB6 database, I've tried the following steps to no avail (:-(

1. Connect to the db from IBConsole, failed - "I/O error, error while trying to read from file, unknown Win32 error 38", according to Win32 help Error 38 is ERROR_HANDLE_EOF. So I tried these......

2. gfix -v -f: It reported: "database file appears corrupt () -bad checksum -checksum error on database page 1689".

3. gfix -m -i: The db was mended with this message: "Summary of validation errors, Number of data page errors: 24, Number of index page errors: 4, Number of database page errors: 29".

4. gfix -v -f again with the same result, I was hoping to backup the db using the following command, but failed.

5. gbak -g -b -z -v -l: "I/O error, error while trying to read from file, unknown Win32 error 38".

Anyone know of a good tool (other than isql, gfix, gbak) which might be able to do the job for me?

Our customer's most recent backup is about 3 weeks old, this is an urgent fix, Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

Cheng
