Mark Easton, Development Manager of Terabyte, has generously made Terabyte's
premises available for a first meeting of all people interested in Extreme
Programming.

Thursday, 7th June 2001 5:30pm for 6pm
Terabyte, Level 2 235 Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland
The building is on the West Side opposite the junction with Remuera Road. Go
up the stairs between Hallensteins and Emilys Linens.

We include anyone who believes in Agile Methodologies rather than XP!
Light refreshments will be provided - rumoured to contain malt.

Please email [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you have anything you would like to
raise.

Please forward this email to any associates who may be interested in
attending.

A brief overview of XP will be given and then a free-ranging discussion on:

XP: Why Not Now

As a group we will answer any objection as to why you or your manager have
decided NOT to use XP now.

See below - where we have given you an initial set of objections!
If you wish to attend please reply to me at MailTo:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Objections
---------------
Open Scope Contracts - What manager will agree to them?
The Planning Game - We must think the whole application through before we
too much.

Short Releases - Too much hassle to release new code to users.

Metaphor - Clap-trap!

Simple Design - Simple systems sometimes arn't't enough to be useful.

Test Before Code - It is too hard to test all the code all the time.

Refactoring - Could this not have been thought through before we got this
far?

Pair Programming - Is this cost efficient?

Collective Ownership - Is this practical? Won't someone screw the whole
project up?

Continuous Integration - Doesn't't this take too long to do every day?

40-hour Week - Why can't they do a real day's work?

On-Site Customer - How can I get someone useful to be that available to us?

Coding Standards - People never follow them!
