I agree only to a certain extent. For example we do use third party grids 
and combos and I have inherited the combos to add functionality peculiar to 
our system.

I also suppose it depends on what you are trying to do - for example by 
giving your application a unique interface you are giving it a brand and 
therefore recognised against the competition.

You wanna talk Multi-Edit and we'll talk it outside where there's plenty of 
room to move :)

However, if it was just a search and replace, then maybe, but it'd be more 
likely to be a functionality change and that requires thought on each 
separate use - after all, if I was going to change MessageDlg then I'd add 
things like default button etc.
