As this thread seems to have deteriorated into a cross-platform development
discussion, here's my two cents...
I do most of my own projects in C++, using the wxWindows (www.wxWindows.org)
toolkit. Using it, I have a project that is source code compatible (you
just copy the code to a new platform and press the 'compile' button...)
across Windows, Linux (KDE & Gnome), Mac, MacOSX, and Commercial Unices...
Pretty nifty really! It's a full GUI wrapper that calls the underlying OS's
API (so a Mac app. looks like a Mac app, a windows app looks like... well,
you get the idea...)
It's worth a look anyway.
