hi,

the situation that you are going to use the app in is the same as the
warning example that i described in my original email, ie if the
networked server stops telling your app of filesystem changes (for
whatever reason, bug/crash/reset), then your app could potentially
silently fail (a bad thing). whereas a properly written polling app
will (should/more likely) continue working.

maybe if you did a couple of test apps, running across a network, and
try to simulate error conditions (eg disconnect/reconnect network
cable, reset the monitored pc etc).
