Hi Vince, Not a big java guru myself but I believe that in java a string is actually an object with methods and properties.
In delphi a string is a type, inherently defined by the compiler. So this means that you need to call methods that operate on a string, not methods of a string. Not sure if the personnel edition comes with help, but if it does do a search for "string routines". This will return a list of methods that can be used to perform operations on strings. hope this helps, David. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Vince Jones Sent: Wednesday, 2 October 2002 12:55 To: Multiple recipients of list delphi Subject: [DUG]: Please help I'm a Java programmer, in the process of changing to Delphi. I'm trying to write some simple programs, but I'm running into a raft of problems. My first problem is, I can't seem to get Strings to work. eg. myString.toUpperCase produces a compiler error, and I can't find a list of available methods. I can't believe strings wouldn't be available in Delphi Personal edition! Can anyone help? Thanks, Vince. http://mobile.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo!
