Thanks Robert, that would be useful.

It seems to be really difficult to get reliable advice on what the options
are with distributed computing.

I have a site down south (with no broadband access) where they have
my app (DBISAM database) running in their main office capturing
production data. They want to provide access to this production
database from a couple of satellite offices (even further from a
broadband connection). Typical use would be about 10 - 15 mins a day
of running reports.

We have provided an inexpensive practical service to them to date by
zipping and emailing the database to the satellites each night. But now
the database is getting too big.

So what other options are there?

I suspect that there will be many options (from advisers to corporate
NZ) involving squillions of dollars.

I can't help thinking, though, that if I could just talk to the right person
there would be a simple practical, low cost solution.

It would be nice to think they could just dial up and synchronise the
database, one way - server to client.

(or am I being naïve - and there are no longer any 'simple solutions')
