[DUG]: TListItem.Checked problem

In D5 I need to uncheck items in code that have been checked manually in a ListView (with Checkboxes := True). I can't seem to do it! Setting MyListItem.Checked := False doesn't do it. Tried a MyListView.Refresh without luck. Looks like a deficiency in D5. Is there a workaround?
