I vaguely recall some M$ article about a similar problem. Something to do with the registry being read into memory at bootup, but not being written back to disk. It doesn't matter what type of user (Administrator or ordinary User) they, and the programs they install, can add keys and values - but when the reboot they all disappear ! The PC is a new Dell-W2K.
