Sorry about the double up on my message. It took sooo long to appear that I had already resent it. (I have multiple mail accounts and sometimes I send from the wrong one and the list bounces it).
I forgot it is also related video drivers, I think we had an SIS internal video card when we had the problem. Stephen is right though, only use 256 colours and the problem will disappear.
