SSH is the Secure Shell for Unix. It was written as a secure replacement for the r* tools (rsh, rcp etc.) and supports proper authentication as well as encryption. Generally SSH is known as a replacement for telnet for connecting terminal emulators to Unix machines, but more pertinent to Chris's problem, the scp tool allows you to securely copy files between two machines. The PuTTY toolset is an implementation of the SSH tools for Windows. SSH also allows you to "forward" an ordinary TCP connection securely as well. This is one way of obtaining a secure connection while still using common protocols such as FTP. There's probably more info than you need here: http://www.openssh.org Cheers, Paul --------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Zealand Delphi Users group - Delphi List - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Website: http://www.delphi.org.nz To UnSub, send email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with body of "unsubscribe delphi" Web Archive at: http://www.mail-archive.com/delphi%40delphi.org.nz/
