Yeah, though ISTR people who talk about the Oracle at the Delphi
as saying 'Delf - eye'. But then they're prolly Merkin's too.

Delph-ee sounds better anyway.

Heh, in Paraparaumu we get annoyed at people saying anything other than 'Para-par-ow-moo' or , 'Para-para-oo-moo'. Unless you are local, then you say 'Pram'. Similarly for Paekakariki/Pi-Kok.
