If I comment out the slow code in the Formshow, then app behaves normally. It would appear there is a timeout in the activation sequence somewhere. Why the minimize failed on some machines but not others was question of how fast they were. Also interesting that if mainform is set to visible false at design, then somewhere it is set visible, but after all form creation.
