Yeah, that's a valid reason... sounds like people were using the db driver for a database other than the one it was designed for.
That said I think there is still a good case for CodeGear offering a fix for it if it isn't too hard. CodeGear aren't Microsoft, they can't dictate things (and even Microsoft irk me everytime they force me to use IE to access their internal partner/SPLA/etc websites) and part of their strength needs to be working with a wide range of other tools.
