Most of our work is day-to-day real time dataentry related stuff so not huge
volume in the grand scheme. Plenty of reads per day with reporting but not a
heavy write.

I wouldn't know exactly but only a few hundred transactions a day for many,
comprising no more than a couple thousand rows of data a day.

MS SQL Server 2005.

Every now and then we do some re-importing of data, or rebuilds where we are
dumping up to 1million transactions (500mb database) and it would take about
1-2hours to write them all out and commit them.
