Yes you can certainly use 2007 and 2010 with Delphi, no problem there but you 
need to do it yourself rather than with the Delphi wrappers.

All versions of word are backwards compatible.

We support Word 2007 and 2010 mail merging. So it can be done.

We use late binding though, although we have used the early binding units for 
Word 2007 as I was proof of concepting a new feature. I use the Word 2000 unit 
for maximum compatibility.
